Blood Sugar Bucket List?

You see some water on your floor, so you clean it up. You ask for help and are told not to worry, because it's only a little water.

Next time it rains, you notice that there’s an even larger puddle on the floor. You go back for help and now are sold mops and buckets, and are told to continue using these every day, so you can keep the floor dry, or at least not flooded. If the floor becomes wet and damaged despite this, they sell you bigger buckets and more mops and bring in a contractor to repair the damage. The fact that there’s a leak in the roof causing structural damage, potential mold, rot and other deterioration is not addressed.

This analogy applies to the traditional model of treating pre-diabetes and diabetes symptom of high blood sugar. Focused on the symptoms, you’re in for a lifetime cost and commitment to trying to maintain the status quo, and risking the integrity of your floors and indeed the structure of the house.

My approach is to treat the root cause, in this example, the hole in the roof. (With diabetes it usually is gut dysbiosis). Because if you do that, you no longer need to continually outlay funds to keep buying supplies and keep scheduling with the contractor.

Once you’ve paid for roof repair, you’re done spending time and money every month. You’re now free to focus your attention on other parts of your life.

The investment in the roof repair is much less costly than the accumulation of all costs associated with treating the symptoms and hoping it won’t get worse. And it increases the quality of your life.

How will you approach your blood sugar?
